Our Story
Courage Collaborative was established out of a deep desire to bring safety, justice, and the best interest of children to the forefront of the court experience and process.
Our awareness of the vast distance that needs to be spanned grew out of our own tragic and shocking experiences within these systems . Our personal experiences, and work with countless others, allowed us to identify systemic gaps that endanger children and harm our communities.
Out of tragedy, came a wisdom that revealed the ways we can improve long term outcomes for children, families and communities and facilitate healing for those harmed by the very systems that were meant to protect them.
We know that the work we set out to do requires an uncommon level of courage, a commitment to coming alongside one another and coalition building across the imaginary boundaries touted by those who seek to isolate and divide us.
Driven by a passion for social equity and data-driven strategies, we are focused on Upstream and Downstream approaches to address this nuanced and complex challenge. Our upstream solutions air aimed at changing the system from the inside to prevent further harm, while downstream approaches address the harm already caused and focus on pathways toward healing, recovery and post-traumatic growth. We translate our deep understanding of these challenges into actionable initiatives that foster resilience and meaningful change.
